The Value in Using a Wedding Planner

The Value in Using a Wedding Planner: Five Things to Know

Hiring a wedding planner is an investment, but it’s an investment that can pay dividends. You’ll have help using your money wisely, but more than that, you’ll see value in how much more time you have – and how much stress you don’t have. Here are five things to know about the true value of wedding planning services.

  1. “Value” Does Not Mean “Discount”

The real value in using a wedding planner is that she has industry connections and can match you with the best quality vendor for your budget. What she won’t do is haggle for discounts on your behalf. By having long-standing relationships with vendors, your wedding planner will already be able to get you a step ahead in getting more value for your dollar.

  1. Loyalty Can Get You a Long Way

The better your planner’s relationship with a vendor, the more likely it is that you’ll see little extras built in to your services. Maybe it’s an upgrade to nicer vases for your floral arrangements, or a waived service fee, or just a more careful eye. Vendors rely on wedding planners for business, so it’s in their best interest to maintain a good relationship – and that can mean great things for you. Remember, if anyone does decide to do you a favor, consider tipping as a thank you.

  1. Time is Money

This is especially true when booking your wedding. The closer you get to the date, the higher the risk that you’ll get hit with rush fees, expedited shipping costs and premium rates. A wedding planner will make sure that you stick to a realistic timetable and that you’re not wasting money on costs that could be avoided.

  1. Time is Also Your Most Precious Resource

When you think of value, think of how much time you’re putting into a single task. You could spend 20 hours researching limo companies and pricing out size vs. distance vs. vehicle. Couples often underestimate how much time it takes to plan a wedding, and overestimate how much time they can realistically spend on the task – especially when you’re planning a wedding away from where you live. Having outside help when you need it is invaluable.

  1. Having a Stress-Free Wedding Day is Priceless

The people who love you will gladly help with taking care of details on the big day – but wouldn’t you rather everyone have time to celebrate and enjoy? A wedding planner is on-site to problem solve, ensure the deliveries are on-time, and make sure everything is going according to plan. After all, you want to be a guest at your wedding, not a party planner!
